Yohei Komaru, M.D./ PhD

Yohei Komaru is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Herrlich Lab. Yohei moved to Wash U in November 2021 from The University of Tokyo, where he received his MD/PhD degrees and trained as a physician scientist (Kent Doi’s Lab). Yohei has 10-years of clinical experience in Japan with board certification in Nephrology, Dialysis Therapy, and Emergency Medicine. In his free time, he spends time watching movies, exploring the city of St. Louis, and traveling with his wife. 

Based on his experience as a critical care nephrologist at U Tokyo, in the Herrlich Lab Yohei is especially focused on multiorgan failure and maladaptive interactions in the kidney-lung axis, using mouse models, tissue staining, flow cytometry, and single-cell RNA sequencing analysis.
